Missouri
Mercy has selected McCarthy Building Companies Inc. to serve as construction manager for a new 825,000-square-foot hospital in Joplin to replace the former St. John's Mercy Regional Medical Center demolished in the May 22, 2011, EF-5 tornado. The new hospital has a construction budget of $335 million and initially will have 261 beds but will expand to 309. Plans include medical-surgical, critical care and women's/children's (labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum) rooms as well as behavioral health and rehab.
Florida
The Orlando office of VOA Associates Inc. will serve as medical planner, architect and interior designer for a renovation of the Viera VA Outpatient Clinic. The contract encompasses 45,000 square feet and will cost $2.76 million to build.
Pennsylvania
Endless Mountains Health Systems recently broke ground on its critical access hospital replacement facility in Montrose. Phase 1 of the new hospital, which was designed by Stratton Brook Associates LLC of West Simsbury, Conn., will be a three-story building that includes emergency medicine, imaging, laboratory,surgery, inpatient beds and related support services. Construction management services are being provided by Sordoni Construction Services of Forty Fort, Pa.
Florida
Orlando Regional Medical Center announced plans to build a new 345,000-square-foot, 10-story patient bed tower. The project also includes increasing the size of the hospital's emergency department and adding a proton radiation therapy unit for cancer treatment.
