The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its standards development process.

Below is a list of NFPA codes and committee happenings for the week of Aug. 19-23.

Meeting minutes

The Health Care Interpretations Task Force posted meeting minutes from its June 18 meeting at the NFPA Conference & Expo. The task force gave interpretations of several code matters related to NFPA 101-2012®, Life Safety Code®. Many questions answered by the task force touched on egress issues, such as means of egress for building equipment rooms, storage alcoves in exit access corridors and delayed egress system overrides. The task force also answered questions about managing physical environment safety for people incapable of self-preservation and placement of alcohol-based hand rub dispensers. NFPA 1, Fire Code. First draft meeting minutes for a June 24-25 meeting are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section. The minutes include review of public inputs for the 2027 edition and creation of new task groups to provide reports and recommendations on issues including emergency responder communication and alcohol-based hand rubs.
