NFPA weekly update: April 21-25

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of April 21-25.

Tentative Interim Amendments

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®. Several tentative interim amendments and ballots (TIA) have been posted for the code’s 2023 and 2026 editions. TIA 23-17 is posted under the “current & prior editions” tab for the 2023 edition. Standards council decision 25-1 is also posted under the “current editions” tab for the 2023 edition. TIA 26-1 and the final ballot for TIA 1820 for the code’s 2026 edition are posted under the “next edition” tab.

NFPA 418, Standard for Heliports and Vertiports. TIA 24-1 for the standard’s 2024 edition is posted under the “current & prior editions” tab.

NFPA 780, Standard for the Installation of Lightning Protection Systems. TIA 23-1 for the standard’s 2023 edition is posted under the “current & prior” editions tab.

Meeting notices and agendas

NFPA 72®, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code®. A notice for an upcoming July 1 meeting to discuss the first draft of the code’s 2028 edition is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 204, Standard for Smoke and Heat Venting. An agenda for an upcoming May 13 meeting regarding the first draft of the standard’s 2027 edition is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.
