HHS issues plan to review regulatory burdens, inefficiencies

Health & Human Services (HHS) in May released a preliminary plan for retrospective review of existing rules to identify those that should be eliminated, streamlined or improved to address regulatory burdens or inefficiencies. In January, President Obama ordered each federal agency to develop such a plan. Among other actions, HHS said the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services intends to conduct a major review of the conditions of participation it imposes on hospitals.
