Serenity, a 15-foot-high, 2,000-pound sculpture, is the centerpiece of Immanuel Celebration Park, created in honor of the 125th anniversary of Immanuel Medical Center.
Bronze doves adorn the stainless steel sculpture depicting a globe resting between flames curving upward on two sides. The artwork, the focal point of Immanuel Medical Center's Cancer Center Inspiration Garden, is intended to inspire and encourage the healing of the body, mind and spirit, and is a place where patients and visitors can relax and reflect.
Water flows tranquilly through the garden and winds its way over the naturally cut, large boulders that anchor the sculpture.
The individual parts were designed, laser cut and welded together to form one piece. The 12 doves were hand-sculpted in clay with their wings set in different positions to re-create the motion of flight. Then they were cast in bronze and welded to the structure. A patina was applied to give them a light appearance.
