NFPA weekly update: April 7-11

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of April 7-11.   

Ballots and errata

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. The committee issued Errata 30-24-1 on the code’s 2024 edition to correct a mistake found in Figure 16.8.1, Spill Containment and Liquid Spread Control for Protected Storage. The errata is posted under the “current and prior editions” tab.

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®. The committee released its final ballot on tentative interim amendment (TIA) No. 1821. The TIA ballot related to requirements for medium voltage cables and related components is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “other committee information” section. The TIA will be carried into the code’s 2026 edition.

NFPA 1082, Standard for Facilities Fire and Life Safety Director Professional. The second draft ballot and second revisions report for the standard’s 2026 edition are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.

Meeting notices, minutes and agendas

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. Two notices for the committee’s upcoming meetings taking place Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 7-9 are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section. The committee will discuss the standard’s 2028 edition.

NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance. Second draft meeting minutes from the committee’s March 18-19 meeting where it discussed the standard’s 2026 edition are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.

NFPA 72®, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code®. First draft meeting notices for meetings taking place July 28-31 regarding the code’s 2028 edition are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 730, Guide for Premises Security. The agenda for the committee’s meeting taking place May 14 to discuss the second draft of the guide’s 2026 edition is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.

NFPA 731, Standard for the Installation of Premises Security Systems.  The agenda for the committee’s meeting taking place May 14 to discuss the second draft of the standard’s 2026 edition is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “second draft committee information” section.
