The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Oct. 28 to Nov. 1.

First draft ballot

NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response. The committee posted first draft ballot information — which includes the committee’s input report, first revisions report and final voting ballot —under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information.”

Public comment opportunity

NFPA 418, Standard for Heliports and Vertiports. The committee is soliciting comments on proposed tentative interim amendment (TIA) No. 1806. The TIA impacts firefighting equipment used for heliports and vertiports and can be found under the “Current & Prior Editions Tab.” The comment window closes Dec. 6, 2024.

Meeting notices and agendas

NFPA 418, Standard for Heliports and Vertiports. The committee posted a pre-first draft meeting agenda for its Jan. 16, 2025, meeting where it will discuss the 2028 edition. The agenda is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.

NFPA 780, Standard for the Installation of Lighting Protection Systems. The committee posted a second draft meeting notice for its upcoming Nov. 18-19 meeting. The notice is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.
