NFPA weekly update: Oct. 21-25, 2024

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Oct. 21-25.

First draft ballots are in

First draft ballot information — which includes committee input reports, first revisions reports and final voting ballots — for three standards are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section for each of the below standards.

• NFPA 3, Standard for Commissioning of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems
• NFPA 4, Standard for Integrated Fire Protection and Life Safety System Testing
• NFPA 220, Standard on Types of Building Construction

Meeting minutes, notices and agendas

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®. The committee posted a second draft meeting notice for its 2026 edition. The meeting will take place Jan. 14-17, 2025, in Savannahx, Ga. The notice is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “Second Draft Committee Information” section.

NFPA 70E®, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®. The committee posted minutes from its first draft meeting for the 2027 edition held on July 30 to Aug. 2. The minutes are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.

NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code and NFPA 99B, Standard for Hypobaric Facilities. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice for the 2027 editions of both standards. The online meeting is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2025. The notice is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section of each standard.

NFPA 750, Standard on Water Mist Fire Protection Systems. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice and agenda for its 2027 edition, which can be found under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section. The online meeting is scheduled for Oct. 30.

NFPA 1225, Standard for Emergency Services Communications. The committee posted two first draft meeting notices for its 2027 edition scheduled for Jan. 7-10, 2025, in Denver. The meeting notices are posted under the Next Edition tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.
