DNV changes its accreditation process

The accrediting organization updated its surveying requirements for documentation access and review
|

The standards application and interpretation team at DNV Healthcare USA Inc. has updated the 2024 NIAHO Program Accreditation Process with significant changes to the survey team arrival procedures. Effective immediately, the survey team leader will present a list of requested documents upon arrival to the facility. The health care organization must then provide the requested documents within three hours.

This new requirement emphasizes the importance of hospitals having all necessary physical environment documentation readily accessible. Failure to produce these documents within the specified timeframe may result in a nonconformance, impacting the hospital's accreditation status.

Hospitals should ensure that their document management systems are efficient, and that staff are prepared to quickly locate and provide the required documents to facilitate a smooth and compliant survey process.

These changes, resulting from the critical access hospital program evaluation, apply to all hospital types. For more details, view the updated 2024 NIAHO Program Accreditation Process.
