When designing the South Tower, a seven-story addition for Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Ky., Gresham, Smith and Partners took full advantage of the facility's location along the Ohio River.
The design firm combined evidence-based research with the hospital's scenic location to maximize the healing potential.
Landscape architects furthered the use of evidence-based design with the creation of a water feature adjacent to the South Tower.
With its waterfall, plants and natural rock, the Family Garden serves as a respite for weary patients and families as well as a quiet place for events such as an Easter sunrise service.
