NFPA weekly update: July 29 to Aug. 2, 2024

The committee for NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, has posted minutes from several meetings held in July regarding public inputs on the 2027 edition

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its standards development process.

Below is a list of NFPA codes and committee happenings for the week of July 29 to August 2. 

Meeting minutes and agendas

NFPA 59, Utility LP-Gas Plant Code. First draft meeting minutes for a July 17 meeting are posted under the “Next Edition” Tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section. The committee reviewed public inputs.

NFPA 101®, Life Safety Code®. First draft meeting minutes from six meetings occurring July 9, 10, 11, 16 and 17 are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.

NFPA 704, Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response. A first draft meeting agenda for an upcoming Aug. 19-20 meeting is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section. The agenda includes review of public inputs.

NFPA 5000®, Building and Safety Code®. First draft meeting minutes from five meetings occurring July 10, 11, 16 and 17 are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.

Ballots and amendments

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. The committee posted voting results for amendment ballots 13-3 and 13-20. Final ballot results are also in for tentative interim amendments (TIA) 1781, 1782 and 1794. All results are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “Other Committee Information” section.

NFPA 70®, National Electrical Code®. Preliminary results for TIA No. 1800 are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “Other Committee Information” section. 

NFPA 72®, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code®. A ballot for amendment 72-2 is posted under the “Next Edition” tab. Under the same tab, an informational ballot for Chapter 26 is also posted.
