The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its codes and standards development process. Below is a list of NFPA committee happenings for the week of Feb. 3-7. 

Public input

The committee for NFPA 1, Fire Code, posted its first draft report for the 2027 edition on Feb. 4. The report will be open for public comment until April 24 as the committee works to develop the code’s second draft.

To submit a public input using the NFPA’s online submission system, select the “next edition” tab and click on the “submit public input online" button to begin the input process.

Meeting minutes, notices and agendas

Four committees shared meeting minutes, notices and agendas.

NFPA 1, Fire Code, 2027 edition. First draft meeting minutes from the Dec. 12, 2024, meeting are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, 2027 edition. First draft meeting minutes from the Jan. 21-22 meeting are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code, 2027 edition. First draft meeting agendas for four upcoming meetings are posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section. The meetings are scheduled for Feb. 18-19, Feb. 24, Feb. 26 and Feb. 27.

NFPA 551, Guide for the Evaluation of Fire Risk Assessments, 2027 edition. A first draft meeting notice for the committee’s upcoming March 18 meeting is posted under the “next edition” tab in the “first draft committee information” section.

Cybersecurity chapter public input

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is requesting feedback on a newly proposed chapter focused on cybersecurity for the 2027 edition of NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code.
