NFPA weekly update: Aug. 12-16, 2024
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) manages more than 300 codes and works with more than 250 technical committees in its standards development process.
Below is a list of NFPA codes and committee happenings for the week of Aug. 12-16.
Committee request
The first draft report for NFPA 901, Standard Classifications for Fire and Emergency Services Incident Reporting, was scheduled to post Oct. 25 but will be delayed due to a request by the technical committee to move the standard to the 2027 revision cycle. The committee also requested to reopen the public input period. Revised scheduled dates will be posted after the committee’s requests are reviewed.
Meeting minutes, notices and agendas
NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code. First draft meeting minutes from meetings held July 15-17 are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.
NFPA 30B, Code for the Manufacture and Storage of Aerosol Products. The committee posted a first draft meeting notice and agenda for a teleconference meeting scheduled for Sept. 16-18. The information is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.
NFPA 80, Standard for Fire Doors and Other Opening Protectives. Meeting minutes that include the committee’s review of a council decision on tentative interim amendment (TIA) No. 1762 are posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “Second Draft Committee Information” section.
NFPA 80A, Recommended Practice for Protection of Buildings from Exterior Fire Exposures. A first draft meeting notice for a Microsoft Teams meeting scheduled for Oct. 1 is posted under the “Next Edition” tab in the “First Draft Committee Information” section.

NFPA 12, Standard on Carbon Dioxide Extinguishing Systems. The committee posted a second draft public comment report with responses attached, revisions report and ballot voting results as it works on the second draft of the standard’s 2025 edition.
