CDC says use of certain imaging technologies on rise

The percentage of outpatient visits at which magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, or positron emission tomography scans were provided or ordered more than tripled between 1996 and 2007, according to the latest annual report to the president and Congress on the health status of the nation. Prepared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the report includes a special section on advanced imaging and other medical technologies.
