The Chickasaw Nation Health Clinic, Ardmore, Okla., was expanded with two goals in mind: to improve patient care and remain sensitive to the culture it serves through design and use of materials.
This was accomplished by layering a combination of more modern materials such as steel and glass and more traditional wood and stone. The design evokes a sense of safety and security in a caring and warm environment.
The main lobby is an open space filled with daylight that also utilizes the layering of materials. Lights suspended from the vaulted ceiling provide a dramatic, striking flair for patients and visitors as they enter the facility.
The Chickasaw Nation through a joint venture with Indian Health Service worked together on the extensive expansion.
Services include primary care, dental, eye care, imaging, physical therapy and behavioral health.
