The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has issued an update to its Hospital Surge Model, a web-based tool that helps hospital and emergency planners develop strategies to treat an influx of patients from 13 types of biological incidents and attacks. The update allows users to estimate the resources needed to respond to emergencies involving improvised explosive devices, pneumonic plague and food-borne botulism.
