HHS awards grants for health care IT extension centers

The Department of Health & Human Services last month awarded more than $267 million to establish 28 regional extension centers to help health care providers—foremost primary care physicians—adopt and use electronic health records. The funding was included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act's HITECH provisions.
